biography
helen david was born in brighton. she attended brighton and hove high school
for girls. after a-levels, she moved to london and gained a first-class
honours degree at camberwell school of art and crafts, where she studied
fashion/textiles and fine art print-making. she then attended the
post-graduate course in fashion at st. martin’s school of art.
english eccentrics
was founded in
1983 by helen, her sister judy purbeck and friend claire angel. this
internationally renowned fashion house specialised in hand-printed and
hand-embroidered eveningwear and scarves.
in
2000 helen won the glamour award during london fashion week.
her
interest in fine art continued throughout her career in fashion and in 2001
she closed her business in order to concentrate full-time on art.
english eccentrics, the textile designs of helen
littman was published by phaidon in 1994.
helen’s fashion/textile work is in permanent collections at the victoria and
albert museum, the museum of london and the art institute of chicago.

helen’s first one-woman show, opened at the space gallery in belgravia,
london in october 2003.
helen is currently studying fine art print-making, at the royal college of
art.
helen’s show, immortals, opens at the space gallery on june 22nd
her
work is in the private collections of individuals including Simon Fuller and
Toyah Willcox.
